Think Tank infographic

The Gender Bias, Mental Health & Social Harm Think Tank sits at the heart of the We Are GLOBAL Women platform. It brings together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and cross-sector leaders to explore how gender bias, mental health, and social environments interact in shaping modern societies.

Our purpose is to build a stronger understanding of how these complex forces influence individuals, communities, and institutions - and to develop evidence-informed approaches that reduce harm, strengthen wellbeing, and support healthier social systems.

By connecting academic insight with policy conversations and real-world practice, the Think Tank helps translate research into meaningful action

Why This Work Matters

Across the UK and globally, conversations around gender equality, mental wellbeing, and social harm are growing louder - yet solutions often remain fragmented.

Gender polarisation, rising mental health pressures, and the influence of digital environments are increasingly shaping how individuals experience identity, belonging, and wellbeing. At the same time, institutions and public discourse frequently address these issues separately rather than recognising their interconnected nature.

The Think Tank exists to help bridge that gap - creating a space where research, policy insight, and lived experience can be brought together to better understand the root causes of social harm and identify pathways toward prevention and resilience.

Our Approach

The Think Tank is built on the belief that complex social challenges require thoughtful, multidisciplinary collaboration.

Our work combines:

  • Academic research across psychology, sociology, education, and public health
  • Clinical and social insight into wellbeing, behaviour, and identity
  • Policy translation to inform institutions and public discourse
  • Practical pilots and interventions that test new approaches to prevention and support

By working across disciplines and sectors, we aim to ensure that knowledge does not remain confined to research environments but informs real-world strategies that support individuals, communities, and institutions.
